The Brønnøysund Register Centre is very much the leading agency in the simplification process. Both the business community and the public administration have increasingly called for simplification.

The government's goal is to save NOK 10 billion through simplification measures by reducing the amount of red tape businesses are subject to. The government has implemented several simplification measures, and the Brønnøysund Register Centre plays a key role in this work.

More than 80% of the Brønnøysund Register Centre's users believe that we make their lives easier. In May 2011, a legislative amendment was introduced that allowed small limited liability companies to drop external auditing of their annual accounts. Around 48,000 limited liability companies chose to take advantage of the option to drop an external audit of their annual accounts for 2011. In addition, the capital required to form a limited liability company was reduced at the turn of the year. These measures seem to be having a good effect. The politicians adopt laws and regulations, but it is the bureaucrats who make sure that they work!
Another important simplification measure was implemented at the end of 2011.

The information portal in Altinn was expanded. Information about starting and running a business that was previously available on several different websites can now be found in one place. This is intended to make it easier for people thinking about starting a business or who need more information and guidance on how to start and run a business to find their way around. The transition to a joint information portal in altinn.no has been well received by users, and surveys show that more people now visit the site to obtain information than before. Both websites that have been moved to Altinn and previous Altinn pages benefit from the cooperation.

There has also been a strong digitalisation effect in the public sector in 2011 through the new Altinn platform. Thirty-eight service owners have worked on developing services in Altinn in 2011, and Altinn has been proposed as one of several common components for public agencies. In addition to being responsible for the administration of Altinn, the Brønnøysund Register Centre is itself a service owner in Altinn. In 2011, the new Altinn platform made it possible to develop the new lookup service 'Products and Services'. This service is free of charge and is intended to give businesses that use Altinn access to the information that is available about their own business. Six months after the launch, many businesses are using the self-service solution. There has been a marked decrease in the number of phone orders, and the service is already being described as a big success.

In 2011, we were awarded the prestigious customer service prize for the second year running. Feedback from our users motivates all our employees to work even harder. We have also received good feedback on our service in connection with the use of new channels to reach our users. The use of social media is efficient, useful and creates a better dialogue. At the same time, we are making efforts to structure and professionalise our user involvement. We know that it pays to listen to what our users have to say!

You can read about this, and much more, in this year's annual report. Enjoy the report!
